MOM DINS - Mother's Meals Delivered In
WHAT are Mom Dins you ask?
HOW does the program work? WHY donate Mom Dins?

Mom Dins are dinners prepared and delivered by our club moms to new mothers after baby arrives. When you are busy trying to figure out how to adjust to life with a new or another child, you need not worry about making dinner.

The club will arrange to have 8-10 dinners brought to you! You can decide when you would like to have the dinners delivered - for instance if you have family staying with you who can help you for the first few weeks, you can arrange to have the dinners started after that.

When you are expecting, let our Mom Din Coordinator (listed in the club newsletter) know. We request that you give at least 8 weeks notice prior to your delivery if you would like dinners, in order to provide for ample time to find dinner donors. If you have just joined the club and are expecting, you can go ahead and request dinners. (Be aware, however, that short notice sometimes means fewer dinners, as it is harder to find volunteers with less lead time!) The Mom Din Coordinator will then match you with a club member who will coordinate your meals. You may already have a club friend who has volunteered to coordinate and, if so, let the Mom Din Coordinator know who she is. The Mom Din Coordinator will then work with your personal meal coordinator to solicit volunteers to bring individual meals.

If you are a personal meal coordinator, the Mom Din Coordinator will provide you with guidelines for what you need to do, which includes, among other things, contacting the expecting mom.s subclub and playgroup friends to solicit meal donations, scheduling dates for donors to bring the meals and acting as an information liaison between the new mom, the donors and the Mom Din Coordinator.

Mom Dins are a fun and easy way to get involved in MDMC. Volunteering to prepare a dinner or coordinate dinners for a new mother is a great one-time volunteer opportunity. You will feel good about helping someone else at a time when you can relate to her chaos! It is also a wonderful chance to meet other club moms and see their precious new arrivals!

Mom Dins not only benefit the new mothers and volunteers, they are also a wonderful teaching opportunity for our children. What better way to demonstrate to our children how to help out others than to let them see and help you bring a dinner to someone in need?

WHEN can you sign up to bring a meal or coordinate meals?

At every General Meeting, the Mom Din Coordinator will circulate a clipboard with names of expecting mother.s in need of meals. The due dates and city of residence of each mom is listed so you can find something that works for you. The sheets will also mention whether a personal meal coordinator is still needed for that mom. This information is also listed in each club newsletter.

Also circulated on the clipboard at General Meetings are signup sheets by month to bring meals or to be a personal meal coordinator. These sheets enable you to sign up for a month when you would be available to bring or coordinate meals for a new mom. If the Mom Din Coordinator has a need in a certain month, she uses these lists to contact the volunteers.
